What to pour in each place my laptop has taken me: the classic each region is known for.

  • France

    Bordeaux red

    The benchmark blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Structured, dark-fruited and built for a long dinner.

  • Portugal

    Port from the Douro Valley

    Fortified, rich and made for dessert. A tawny tastes like caramel, nuts and good decisions.

  • Scotland

    Scotch single malt

    Scotland barely makes wine, so its famous pour gets the spot. Smoky Islay or smooth Speyside, ideally with rain on the window.

  • England

    English sparkling wine

    Chalky southern soils and Champagne grapes. England quietly got very good at bubbles.

  • Turkey

    Öküzgözü

    Turkey’s best-known red grape: juicy, bright and made for grilled meats. Hard to pronounce, easy to drink.
